Here is the ancient effigy of Ralph-de-Abenhale inside the north aisle at St. Mary the Virgin Church in English Bicknor, who was made first rector in this church in 1288.

4 stage tower has C13 base with blocked lancet openings.

The present day church is Norman dating to c1100 AD, though the outside walls were renewed in Victorian times.

Norman arcade with 5 arches on round piers with sculptured capitals.

South transept contains Machen Chapel with many floor and some wall monuments and has carved wooden screen of c.1500 across 2 sides with altered boarded dado.

Chancel has 3-light decorated window and Baroque wall tablet 1664.

In north aisle at west end, three C14 effigies not in situ.
